Upsurge in ChatGPT

The Upsurge ChatGPT integration is being prepared for an invited merchant pilot. Availability depends on pilot enrollment and setup; it is not yet a public directory release.

The integration lets you find public Upsurge documentation and, after connecting your account, work with the stores you choose. Product discovery in ChatGPT shopping is a separate future integration and is not included in this pilot.

What you can do

CapabilityAccess needed
Find and read public Upsurge documentation with source linksNo Upsurge connection
View selected stores, products, and performance reportsRead access
Find existing campaign templates and authoring referencesRead access
Create and edit overlay, recommendation, and chatbot campaignsRead and manage access
Activate or pause campaignsRead and manage access
Create, edit, validate, publish, or unpublish store workflowsRead and manage access

Products are read-only. The integration does not expose customer records, orders, billing, integration credentials, or account administration. Workflow tools do not support product updates, arbitrary HTTP requests, custom code, or workflows shared across all stores.

Connect your account

When the pilot is enabled for your account:

  1. Open the Upsurge integration in ChatGPT and begin connecting your account.
  2. Sign in through the usual Upsurge sign-in page.
  3. If you belong to more than one merchant account, choose the account to connect.
  4. Select the stores you want ChatGPT to access.
  5. Choose Read access or Read and manage access, then approve the connection.

A connection can remain active for up to 30 days, and you can revoke it at any time. Your current Upsurge permissions still apply. A connection cannot grant permissions you do not already have. Stores added later are not automatically shared; reconnect to change the selection or access level. You can decline the request without sharing merchant data.

Review changes and live effects

Start by selecting a store. For example:

  • “Find the Upsurge documentation for setting up recommendations.”
  • “Compare this week's performance for my store with the previous week.”
  • “Create a draft overlay campaign for my selected store.”
  • “Check whether this workflow is ready to publish.”

Creating a draft does not activate it. Activating a campaign or publishing a workflow can affect your live store. ChatGPT identifies write operations for its confirmation flow, and successful results include the resource's status and a link back to the dashboard.

Editing a published workflow unpublishes it and disables its triggers and schedules. Publish it again after reviewing the change. Campaign edits follow the same lifecycle rules as the Upsurge dashboard; check the reported status before assuming a campaign is paused or live.

If a resource changed since ChatGPT last read it, the edit is rejected so the current version can be reviewed. If a request reports an uncertain outcome, check the resource in Upsurge before asking for another change. A lost response does not necessarily mean the change failed.

Review or revoke connections

Open Dashboard → Settings → ChatGPT and choose the merchant account to view its connections, selected stores, access level, and expiry. Revoking a connection blocks subsequent merchant operations. Public documentation remains available without a connection when the integration is enabled.

Connections may also stop working if access expires, your Upsurge permissions change, or the merchant pilot is disabled. Reconnect when prompted; contact your pilot administrator if your account is not enabled.
